Introducing Artist Anton Carter

Anton Carter recently displayed his paintings at the Hide House 2625 S. Greeley in the Bayview neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA. Mr. Carter showed a collection of work reaching back five years with the major body of work having been created in 2010.

By all reports the art opening, part of Milwaukee's renowned art walk, was a resounding success. The event captured the imagination of a large crowd of patrons and fans of Anton Carter's paintings.

Upon first seeing Anton Carter's art one is struck by the rapturous color sequences and rhythms. There is a balance met with the artist's hand. On one side there is a relentless exploration of shape and line, on the other there is a kind of letting go of exploration, more of a head first dive into a cold lake.

A perception of positive influence via graffiti tagger street art appears in some of the work. Not quite reaching the order of text on the side of a train but borrowing perhaps, some of the textual inclination without actually spelling a word in paint.

There is a youthful vigor in Mr. Carter's work that is sometimes seen in new artists and always seen in artists young at heart. Explosions of hue, netted by ochers and blacks that are sometimes shadow sometimes delineation of form. There is a non-contextual purpose that emanates from the paintings, but forms creep from the chaos turning maybe into kidneys, carnations, numeric symbols, audio waves and maybe even approaching human figures.

Anton Carter's art can be characterized by a freeing spirit and a sense of perpetual renewal. He is clearly a burgeoning colorist, painting on canvas but also beyond directly into the viewers mind. Keep an eye out for this artist in the future, his work has only just begun.
